Jazz in the Park


6pm-9pm Jazz Concert this evening in Helena (July9th). It it free, and the past concerts in this series has been amazing. Bring a chair or a blanket and get ready for some incredible music. Come out and give the artist a strong Helena welcome!

Magic City Smooth Jazz mission is to expose and engage audiences in culturally undeserved communities to various styles of jazz in the state of Alabama.

Jazz in the Park will travel this Sunday to Helena Amphitheater located at 4151 Helena Road Helena, AL 35080 from 6 - 9 p.m. This FREE and OPEN concert to the public is presented by the City of Helena will feature saxophonist Phil Denny and guitarist Joe Carnaggio. .

The community is encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and picnic for this event.

Phil Denny

Since emerging onto the smooth jazz scene in 2012 much traction has been made by the efforts of saxophonist and businessman, Phil Denny. The four-time Billboard charting, independent artist has been described as a passionate and soulful player often captivating audiences with his smooth, sexy yet energetic style. Friends and fans alike often describe him as a people’s musician having developed and maintained a very active, loyal and ever-growing fan base even before the release of his internationally recognized 2012 debut CD, Crossover. For more information, please visit phildenny.com

Joe Carnaggio

Guitarist Joe Carnaggio began playing professionally at the age of 14 when he was selected by the Birmingham, Alabama Arts Council to be a musical representative of the city and perform at the prestigious Birmingham International Festival of Arts. From there Joe played guitar on numerous recordings for Gospel, Rock, and Blues bands trying to make a name for themselves. Most notably his signature Jazz guitar work is highly acclaimed from recordings and performances with Jazz great Cleveland Eaton. Joe’s Television and Internet credits include a Bright House Cable musical film documentary on Cleve Eaton, and a streaming live internet concert of original music written by Joe and Cleve broadcast from Memphis, Tennessee. Joe has performed as a featured soloist with groups performing at Function at the Junction, Secret Stages, Taste of 4th Avenue, Moss Rock Preserve Jazz Festival, the nationally prominent Magic City Smooth Jazz Festival, and for Coach Nick and Terry Saban and guests at an event hosted by Mercedes – Benz of Birmingham. Joe along with Byron Thomas Keyboardist/Arranger/Producer, Andre Burnett/Bassist, and John Nuchols/Drums perform a highly entertaining show of original music as well as recognizable features from artists such as Stevie Wonder, Steely Dan, George Benson, Earl Klugh, Four Play and others.
