Miss Amazing

Amazing Cat

Mary Catherine is a junior at Helena High this year and is in her 5th year in the Helena school system. The family moved to Helena prior to her 7th grade year from Montgomery to experiment with her in a public school system. Mary Cat has autism and after 3 years of research, the City of Helena kept coming up in the families searches as the place to be.

Her father shares. "The experiment has been an unbelievable success. A couple of months back Mary Cat entered a pageant called Miss Amazing which is a group set up to give special needs girls an opportunity to participate in a pageant without so much pressure".  Mary Cat ended up winning the teen division and will be representing the state of Alabama in the national pageant. The nationals will be in Chicago in early August.

Mary Cat of Helena has officially got her fund raising page set up for the Miss Amazing national pageant. https://donate.missamazing.org/fundraiser/961198

About Miss Amazing
Miss Amazing is a nationwide non-profit organization dedicated to providing opportunities for girls and women with disabilities to reach their fullest potential.

Miss Amazing representatives are provided opportunities to grow as leaders, philanthropists, and role models over the course of a year. One exciting way that they  do that is by attending National Miss Amazing 2017!

Staged in Chicago, IL August 4-9, National Miss Amazing will allow Miss Amazing representatives to meet over 160 amazing girls and young women from across the country, continue to improve their leadership and communication skills, and to share their strengths and ambitions with a nationwide audience.

Take a look at stories from two participants at last year's National Miss Amazing event, originally aired on CBS Dream Team's "Hidden Heroes":
